Equality Statement

The Equality Act 2010 requires schools to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations between those who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.

Upperby Primary School is committed to meeting its duties under the Equality Act 2010. We aim to ensure that all members of the school community are treated with respect and dignity, and that pupils have equal access to a broad and balanced curriculum, resources, experiences and opportunities within a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

Equality Objectives

In line with the Equality Act 2010, Upperby Primary School has set the following equality objectives:

  • To eliminate discrimination and reduce inequality by ensuring parity between boys’ and girls’ attainment in reading, writing and mathematics.

  • To advance equality of opportunity by ensuring pupils in vulnerable groups, including those with SEND and those in receipt of Pupil Premium, make the same rates of progress as their peers.

  • To remove or minimise disadvantage by ensuring the school environment is as accessible as possible to pupils, staff, parents and visitors.

  • To foster good relations and promote understanding, respect and equality through assemblies, PSHE lessons and the wider curriculum.
