Years 3 & 4
Welcome to Year 3 and 4 (LKS2)
We have three mixed Year 3 & 4 classes: Atlantis, Fantasia and Te-Fiti.
Our class teachers are:
Mrs Lancaster (Atlantis)
Mrs Boothman & Mrs Lawson (Fantasia)
Mr Garrattt (Te-Fiti).
The teaching assistants in our keystage are Ms Garcia, Miss Stevenson, Ms Alderson and Mrs Cannon. Ms Alderson and Mrs Warnes cover PPA sessions.
The School Day
Our school day begins at 8:45am, with doors opening at 8:35am to allow children time to settle and get ready for learning. Arriving on time helps children start the day calmly and ensures they do not miss any important learning.
The school day finishes at 3:15pm.
Children should enter school each morning through the Year 3/4 cloakroom entrance. At the end of the day, classes will be dismissed from the following locations:
- Fantasia – Year 3/4 cloakroom exit
- Atlantis – classroom door
- Te-Fiti – classroom door
We ask that parents and carers are punctual for both drop-off and collection times. Thank you for supporting us to ensure a smooth start and end to each day.
What Your Child Needs Each Day
Please ensure your child brings the following items to school every day:
- A named water bottle
- Reading book
- Book bag
Reading regularly at home makes a huge difference to children's progress and confidence, so we appreciate your support with this.
Physical Education (PE)
PE kits should remain in school throughout the half-term. Children take part in both indoor and outdoor PE sessions, so they will need a suitable pair of trainers. Please avoid sending expensive trainers into school.
PE kits will be sent home at the end of each half-term for washing.
One of our aims is to develop children's independence, so it is important that they can change into and out of their PE kit independently. Practising this skill at home can be really helpful.
Please ensure earrings are removed on PE days.
Personal Belongings
Please label all uniform, PE clothing, water bottles and other belongings clearly with your child's name. This makes it much easier for lost items to be returned.
We encourage all children to take responsibility for their own belongings and develop independence as they move through Key Stage 2. Your support at home helps us to build these important life skills.
We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to working with you to ensure your child has a happy, successful and rewarding year in Lower Key Stage 2.
PE
Fantasia - Outdoor PE on Mondays, Indoor PE on Fridays
Atlantis & Te-Fiti - Indoor PE on Mondays, Outdoor PE on Tuesdays
Please bring a full PE kit to school each week along with suitable outdoor clothing and outdoor shoes.
Homework
Homework is handed out every Friday and must be returned by the following Thursday. Please practice the spellings for the spelling test each Week.
Times Tables
In Year 3 and 4, children will regularly practice learning number bonds and times tables facts by heart.
Towards the end of Year 4, children will take part in a compulsory times tables test. To help your child with this, encourage them to practice their times tables at home. They can use times tables rock stars.
