Gotham City (Year 6)
Welcome to Year 6 Gotham City
Our Teacher is Mr Codd and our teaching assistants in Year 6 are Mrs Simpson and Mrs Johnstone.
Our PE days are Thursdays and Fridays.
Year 6 Homework
Reading
Children should read at home for at least 10 minutes, 5 days a week. This will help with their fluency and understanding. Please record this in their home reading records with a signature. Children who are not reading at home will complete this during breaktimes. Reading records will be checked in school.
Written homework
Homework will be set on a Friday and due back in the following Thursday.
Children will have 10 spellings in their homework book to learn each week. Different ideas for how your child can practise their spellings are stuck in the front of their book.
The children are expected to complete a maths, reading and SPaG activity.
Our homework policy indicates that children who do not complete these activities sufficiently, will have to complete this during breaktimes. Parents will receive a text if homework is not completed.
. It should take no more than an hour to complete and can be spread out across the week. Please ask if you are stuck.
There will also be a project homework given in Autumn term.
Gotham City Class Information
Doors open at 8.35am, ready to start working at their desk by 8.45am and we finish at 3.15pm. It is vital that all children arrive at school on time. 10 minutes late per day is 50 minutes of lost learning time each week.
We enter via the classroom door and leave via the classroom door. If you have given permission for your child to leave the school premises without an adult, please ensure they are aware of any prior arrangements you have made with them.
Please be prompt if collecting your child. We will also try our best to be prompt but please remember that the children will not leave the classroom door until 3:15pm.
All children will need a water bottle (containing only water) and a book bag (containing their reading book and reading record) in school every day.
Children must wear the correct school uniform every day. Please refer to the school’s uniform policy for more details.
PE kits need to be in school every day. PE kit should consist of a red top, dark shorts and trainers. As the weather gets colder, they may wear a warm top and bottoms. Earrings must not be worn for PE.
It is very important that your child’s belongings are clearly named so they can easily be returned if lost.
Any questions or concerns please contact our school office and we will get back to you.
Thank you!
