Sports Premium

What is the Sports Premium?

The Primary PE and Sport Premium is additional funding provided by the government to improve the quality of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity in primary schools. The aim is to ensure that all pupils develop healthy, active lifestyles and have access to high-quality sporting opportunities. Funding for schools is calculated by reference to the number of primary-aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11), as recorded in the annual schools census in January.

At our school, the funding is used to:

  • Improve the quality of teaching and learning in PE

  • Provide specialist sports coaching and staff training

  • Increase participation in competitive sport

  • Broaden the range of sports and physical activities on offer

  • Support inclusive opportunities so all pupils can take part

  • Promote active playtimes and healthy lifestyles

We carefully plan how the funding is spent to ensure it has a lasting impact on pupils’ physical development, wellbeing and enjoyment of sport. The impact of our Sports Premium spending is reviewed annually to ensure it continues to benefit all children.
