Sunbeam Class

☀️ Hello! We are the Sunbeams Class. ☀️

Our Teacher this year is Miss Davidson.

Our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Sutherland.

We also have Mrs Baldwin and Mrs Purdham to help us  in class.

🌞 Useful class information 🌞

  • We have our time in the hall for PE on a Thursday morning. Every child will need to have a PE bag ready on their peg, with T-shirt and shorts that they can recognise as their own. Please remember to name all items of clothing clearly!
  • We provide a piece of fruit and some milk for every child, each day. We also provide a daily snack - which might include toast, pittas and dips, crumpets, cucumber and carrot sticks, brioche and lots of others. We ask for a weekly contribution of £1 per child to cover the cost of these extras- parents can pay weekly or at the beginning of each half term.

The Early Learning Goals

At the end of Reception Year, children's progress is measured against the Early Learning Goals, as an expected level of development for a typical 5 year old child - children will be either emerging towards, at the expected or exceeding the expected level.

These pages are taken from the " What to expect, when" document, written especially for parents as a guide to the ages and stages of children's development throughout the Early Years.
The full document can be found here. Remember, all children make different rates of progress and this is just a guide to what a typical child should achieve.

☀️January 2020☀️

The children have been really enjoying practising their reading and writing skills, and they are becoming so confident now with hearing and saying sounds in words. We are continuing to practise the Set 1 sounds that we all learned in the Autumn term and the children are finding different ways to use their new skills around the classroom.

❤️Poppy Postcards❤️

November 2019

We joined in with the " Postcards of Kindness" this year, which encourages people to think of others, sending postcards to residential homes all over the UK to help to combat feelings of loneliness and isolation.  The children really enjoyed thinking of different ways to make their own individual postcard and they were all so original and imaginative. We watched the CBeebies video which uses a lovely animated short film to help the children begin to understand why we wear poppies on Remembrance Day.

September 2019

We have been having such a busy time in school since the start of term - catching up with old friends and making new ones, exploring our new learning environments, enjoying lots of our favourite activities and having a go at some new ones! So much to see and do! Have a look at some of our photographs!

💥 Check out our Rock Stars! 💥

Some of our children dressed up as Rock Stars this week to celebrate the success of the Rock Stars Maths Challenge in Yrs 2-6.
