Dear Upperby Primary School Children,
I hope you are all well and keeping busy! I am missing you all so much, especially all of your smiles and hugs! During your time at home I will be posting things on this page, these are things that you might want to dip into and try or just look at. These activities are just for fun or if you want something to help you relax or do something a little different! If you would like to send some pictures to the email homework@upperbycdc.org.uk - it is up to you, I will share pictures with your teacher and will also add some pictures to the Home Learning Gallery. No pressure, just have fun and take care of yourself!
Hugs and smiles!

Cześć !
Well children, I bet you are wishing the good weather was back just like me! This week I have been working very hard on some new PSHE things for September. I have had some training on Relationships and Health Education, bullying and some very interesting training on 'Gaming'. I can't wait to share some new activities with you all.
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned some fundraising for Stanley Dalton (Save our Stan), I'm guessing many of you have heard of him on social media. There are lots of people in Carlisle working as a TEAM and trying to help in anyway they can! It is just amazing. My girls and I are taking part in the 'Stride to Singapore' sponsored walk. We have been on some nice walks this week and some wet and windy ones! Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
Be kind to yourself and your loved ones.

Cześć children!
What lovely weather we have had at the beginning of last week and then such wet and windy weather at the end of the week. The weather was lovely for Emily's 8th birthday and she said she had a brilliant day. I made her birthday cake this year and I must say it was delicious!
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the art classes I had taken part in with Emily, this has been a great chance for us to sit and talk and do something relaxing together. I found it really enjoyable and a good way of looking after my mental health and being kind to myself. We also had a very wet and windy walk in the rain!
Be kind to yourself and your loved ones.

Bonjour children!
It is an exciting week in my house this week, my big girl Emily is going to be 8 on Thursday. She is very excited and is hoping the weather is nice so we can have a little garden party with nana. If any of you have had a lockdown birthday, I hope you have had a lovely time!
Today I would like to tell you about why I'm proud to be part of the Upperby Family. A few days ago I heard about a little boy called Stanley Dalton (Stan) who is poorly and he needs some special treatment in a different country but his parents need a lot of money to get him there. So I asked for help from our wonderful staff at school and on Saturday evening we rasied £350 for Stan's fund. Most days we tell you about the importance of teamwork and helping others, when we work together great things can be achieved. Missing you all lots!
Hugs and smiles!

Hello everyone!
I can't believe how quickly the weeks go past at the moment. We have spent alot of time inn the garden playing with our guinea pigs; Bella and Rosie. Our painting classes have continued, I am really enjoying learning about lots of different artists with Emily and trying different types of ideas. Even though art is not one of my strengths, I think I am getting better at it and it is definately a great way to have some time for 'me'.
Hugs and smiles!

Hello everyone!
This week in my house we have been working on activities that help us relax and spend time looking after ourselves. My girls love painting so I thought we would try some online art classes. This was something we could all do together and it was great fun! (Even though art is not one of my strengths). Painting, drawing, colouring, hands on activities are a great way to look after your mental health! Do you like our creations?
Hugs and smiles!

Hello Everyone,
I hope you have all enjoyed some time outside in the sunshine. We have splashed in the paddling pool, camped out in the tent and scooted down to the bay to catch tadpoles in the water. The highlight of my girl's week was holding our butterflies before letting them go!
Keep smiling and sending us pictures!
Miss Wilson
Inspirational Role models poster
Last term we looked at different inspirational role models. Each KS2 class had one person they researched and then presented key information about why that person was inspirational. All classes conributed to a gigantic display in the Year 3 corridor.
Can you create a poster, poem or picture about someone (ANYONE) that is inspirational to you?
If you would like to have a go, please send some pictures to the email homework@upperbycdc.org.uk I would love to see your creations!

Hello Everyone,
Tomorrow is the last day of Mental Health Awareness week but not the last day of us looking after each other, being kind and taking care of our families. Your mental health is very important to us. We want you to be happy and always remember that everything we do is to help you grow and develop, you all mean so much to us! I am missing our PSHE lessons, it has been amazing seeing and hearing that some of you have managed to have a go at the activities on this page. Remember they are for fun and will hopefully make you feel good! Anyone can join in with them! (Even parents!)
See you all soon!
Miss Wilson
Why is online safety so important?
There are lots of fun, exciting and great things you can do on the internet. Playing games and staying connected to friends can be so much fun. But it is really important to understand how to stay safe online and look after your mental health. Remember what KS told us about staying safe? Who are your trusted adults? What can you do if you get 'Yukky' feelings and feel that social media is affecting your mental health?

If you would like to have a go at creating your own, please send some pictures to the email homework@upperbycdc.org.uk I would love to see your creations!

This week (18th - 24th May) is Mental Health Awareness Week. The focus is 'Kindness', protecting our mental health, particularly showing kindness to ourselves and others, will help us cope and recover from the difficult time we are experiencing at the moment. Kindness helps build self-esteem, friendships, relationships and school and community spirit.
Kindness is something we all need in our lives!

Hello Everyone!
In my house we have been doing lots of activities this week that allow us to be kind to ourselves. Sometimes we need to remember to take some time and do things that make us feel relaxed. My girls love their daily walk, scoot or cycle, it helps them feel calm and cheers them up if they are missing their friends. We seem to visit the bay quite a bit at the moment, so this week we decided to take some sketching pencils with us and draw. It was very relaxing and made us all feel happy and settled.
Missing you all!

Hello everyone! We have had a lovely time in the sunshine last weekend. In our house we celebrated VE on Friday by making bunting, a spitfire, posters and printing with paint and sponges. We talked about so many things; what it would have been like during the war; the sacrifices and difficulties, children being evacuated, the clothes and rations. We listened to an air raid siren and watched Bedknobs and Broomsticks after our picnic in the garden.
My girls had the swimming pool out on Saturday, it was so lovely, they enjoyed fishing whilst I had a very busy time sorting things out for someone's 6th birthday on Sunday. I even baked and iced a cake (not too bad for my first attempt at icing).
Missing you all lots!

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is having fun at home and staying positive. Sometimes it's very hard to be positive when we are missing our friends and family. However, lockdown will not last for forever and we'll soon all be back together again! I am missing our PSHE lessons so much... I hope you are using some of the mediation and relaxation techniques we use in school to stay positive and relax with your wonderful families.
A special shout out to all of those children working on the kindness activities from the Kindness calendars. I am really enjoying seeing your creations! Well done!
Love and Hugs,
Miss Wilson
