We have a special corner of our classroom set up with 'curiosity cubes', which always contain something interesting for us to look at and talk about. At the moment we are looking at some potatoes which are 'chitting' (which means they are starting to sprout) before we plant them in our garden, a hyacinth bulb which is growing in water so we can see its roots, and a pea that we have planted in soil.
Our New Forest School Area!
We've just had a new seating area put into our forest school area in the woods, and it just so happenned that the library van was visiting today. We got to show off our lovely new seat and benches to the man from the library, and he shared some stories with us!
Painting and Drawing
We have been practising our observational drawing skills this week by painting some beautiful daffodils, and drawing some cartoon characters that we looked at on the screen.
Happy Mother's Day
A super happy Mother's Day to all of our parents and carers. We've been making some cards for the special people in our lives, we hope you like them!
Our video
Our week in nursery
This is our first week back in nursery following lockdown, we've been planting seeds, ordering numbers, sorting colours, doing some great balancing, using our amazing imaginations as well as welcoming new friends. Here are a few pictures of some of the things we've been doing.
World Book Day- The Masked Reader!
I wonder if you can spot the Nursery grown ups amongst the masked readers, do you know what stories we are reading?
Our lockdown at home
It's been a very different Spring Term for us in Nursery, but that doesn't mean there hasn't been lots and lots of amazing learning. Our families have worked so hard to provide fantastic learning opportunities, experiences and fun for their little ones at home, and we've done our best to support them along the way. Here are just a few of the photos that you have shared, thank you so much for working with us over this incredibly difficult period, and well done for making it through!
Winter fun
It's been so cold, but that doesn't mean that we can't have lots of fun outside. Those of us who have been lucky enough to be at school have been exploring the snow and the ice- we've made some ice decorations, and discovered that we can melt ice with snow.
Don't forget to check Tapestry for ideas for some lovely winter learning opportunities!
A special visitor!
Look who came to see us at school! He's really busy at the moment, but he managed to find time to come and show us his sleigh and have a chat with us all.
Remembrance
Ahead of Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day, we have been making poppies in our class, to create a Remembrance dislay. Have a look at our amazing work!
Little Red Riding Hood
Little Red Riding Hood takes a basket of food to her poorly grandma, I wonder if you know what sorts of food are good for you, and which ones we should only have every now and then? Why don't you help your grown ups to make a lovely healthy lunch for yourself today? Don't forget to get them to share what you had on tapestry!
The Gingerbread Man
A story about a very fast biscuit! You can find a recipe to make your very own gingerbread men here https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/gingerbread_men_99096 If you don't have the ingredients, don't worry- ask your grown up to cut you out the shape of a gingerbread man, that you can decorate. Don't forget to get your grown up to share it with us on Tapestry!
The Floor is Lava!
Mrs Reid and Abbie have been practising their balancing skills at home. Do you think this is a game you could play? Be careful you don't fall in!
The Three Bill Goats Gruff
Do you have anything you could make a bridge out of at home? You could use bricks, toys, even sofa cushions! Use your imagination and show me your bridges, and how strong they are. Don't forget to get your grownups to share them with me on tapestry!
Three Little Pigs
The story of how a little pig managed to outsmart a sly wolf. I would love to see what sort of house you would build if you were a little pig! Do you have any building bricks, or lego, or straws or sticks? Maybe you could draw me a picture of your house! Don'tĀ forget to get your grown ups to share them with me on Tapestry!
Numbertime
The number 2. When we have two of something, we call them a pair. I wonder what pairs you can find in your house? Good luck, number detectives!
Goldilocks
Goldilocks and the Three Bears, told by me with a little help from a friend! This is a story about a big bear, a medium sized bear, and a tiny bear. I wonder if you can find three things at home and see which one is tiny, which one is in the middle, and which one is big?
