Visit to School from U-Man and U-Girl

25th June 2020
Dear Parents/Guardians

RE: Visit to School by U-Man and U-Girl

We are writing to inform you that U-Man (Shaun Wheatherhead) and U-girl (his daughter) will be visiting the school on Monday 29th June 2020. The superhero pair are visiting 15 Cumbrian schools in 5 days. U-Man will not come into contact with any staff or children and will keep to a social distance in the school’s outdoor space. The visit has been coordinated and risk assessed by Mr. Codd.

The aim of the school visit will be to highlight social distancing focusing on promoting safety. A lot of children are nervous about Covid-19 and U-man is aiming to help with these worries. The children will be completing some literacy-based work about U-man’s visit either on or before the day. We would love it if the children attended school dressed as a superhero – don’t worry if you haven’t got a costume, feel free to create your own superhero using what you have at home. Alternatively, you could just come in bright colours.

After the school site visit, between 12:30 and 13:00, U-Man and U-Girl will walk around the local school community to engage local children and families to be part of the day. Again, there will be no contact with U-Man or U-Girl and for avoidance of any doubt - they do not enter any properties, gardens or driveways. If you want to dress up as a superhero at home and give U-man and U-girl a wave, you can. You could even take some photographs of them going around the neighbourhood.

Another part of their mission is to raise money for the Yorkshire Air ambulance. If you would like to make a small donation, please send the money in with your child to be put straight in a collection bucket. A bucket will also be circulating around the community with the superhero pair, so if your child isn’t in school currently and you want to donate, there will be an opportunity.

If you would like any further information, please contact the school.
