We are Year 6.
Our teacher is Miss Taylor. We are supported by Mrs Simpson.
Our PE days are Wednesday and Friday.
Please make sure you bring full kit and trainers.
In Spring term we will have gymnastics on a Wednesday and hockey on Fridays.
Homework is given out on a Friday for the following Friday.
1 piece of English, 1 piece of Maths, and 10 spellings to learn each week.
We have been thinking about our futures in Year 6 and discussing possible careers and the skills we would need to be successful. We all took part in a series of challenges and then we thought about what skills we were practising during them, such as: coordination, communication, leadership, articulating and problem solving. Some of them were a little trickier than others!
Here we are testing out our listening skills by guessing the voice.
Then we tested our time management and accuracy with a throwing challenge and our articulation with some tricky tongue twisters. We then designed our own challenges to show off similar skills we would need in different careers.
In Autumn term our topic is WW2. We are looking specifically at the Battle of Britain, the causes, the threat and the outcome.
We are also exploring what life was like for British people during WW2, including air raids, evacuation and rationing.
We have been on two very exciting trips - one to Eden Camp - an old Prisoner of War camp, and the other to the Solway Aviation Museum to look at the different planes used in the war.
In English we are looking at texts that are set across the World War Two period, including The Diary of Anne Frank, Letters to the Lighthouse and Rose Blanche. We will be writing newspaper reports about the outbreak of war, diary entries of wartime experiences and narratives about the war.
