Our teacher is Mr Garratt, our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Graham and we love being in Year 4!
PE days are Tuesday and Thursday. Please bring shorts and a red top (as well as warm outdoor clothes and trainers). HOMEWORK is handed out on Tuesdays and collected the following Monday. Please learn a set of spellings each week.
Over the Easter holidays, we made a project about Anglo Saxons and Vikings that we had to present to the rest of the class.
During our PSHE week, we researched where food in our cupboards come from and found the places on a world map. It's amazing how far some food travels to get here...
Our home made Easter egg designs are very creative and amazing. Everyone got a prize, but can you guess which two won the large prizes?
Thank you to all the parents and family who made VIKING LONGSHIPS during our stay and play session. The finished boats were amazing, well done.
What a performance from our guitar students! They played "Hold My Girl" by George Ezra and it sounded amazing, well done.

A big thank you to all the parents and family who came to our STAY & PLAY session to make smoothies to sell at break times. They were delicious!
We are great at balancing and creating routines in gymnastics.

We are talented musicians and love to perform guitar songs for our family and friends.
We used our amazing art skills when making calendars for our Stay and Play afternoon in December.
We have been busy preparing for the Winter Fayre during Enterprise Week. We planned, costed out and made HOT CHOCOLATE REINDEER to sell at the Winter Fayre to raise money.
Do you like our fabulous shadow puppets? We made them with Prism Arts at the Old Fire Station in Carlisle and performed our own show!
We loved the science theatre company that taught us all about the planets and outer space!
Charlotte's Web
We used our cutting skills to make spider's webs, wrote amazing kennings and designed reports all about spiders.
We love science investigations in Year 4. We studied our own teeth and found out what happened to eggs that were left in different liquids for 3 days (the eggs were standing in for our teeth)!
Do you like the letters we wrote explaining why we want to resign from a job? We based our ideas on a short animation called 'Partly Cloudy'. Why not watch it for yourself?
Partly Cloudy
We are expert weavers now!
We are brilliant at measuring the perimeter of shapes.
Laura from Laura’s Looms and Izzy from Wildflower Weaver based at Farfield Mill visited the Year 4 classes to teach us how to weave and spin fleece.
We learned all about fire safety.
Upperby was very different in the past. We really enjoyed using the library archives to find out more...
The Iron Man
Look at our creative Iron Men made from household items! We are excellent journalists and we could open our own restaurant with our inventive menus!
In our weaving topic, we found out that at least half of Carlisle's mill workers lived in poverty. We created worker dolls and weaved protest banners to petition the King!
We are skilled at Judo!
During class changeover week, we researched and wrote short biographies about a woman that changed the world. We chose the Russian cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova.
